We advance good governance, foster citizen participation, and promote peaceful, inclusive leadership across Africa.
Leadership Initiatives for Transformation (LIT) is a woman-led, Global South–based organisation dedicated to advancing inclusive, resilient, and locally rooted solutions to the most pressing governance, peacebuilding, and development challenges across Africa.
Born from the belief that sustainable change must be driven by those closest to the issues, LIT works alongside civilian actors, social movements, and community leaders to strengthen their capacity, amplify their voices, and expand their influence in political and development processes.
Our approach is grounded in partnership, research, and practical engagement. We provide technical expertise, facilitate dialogue, and design innovative programmes that bridge the gap between grassroots realities and high-level policy arenas.
We bring unique perspectives shaped by lived experience of conflict, marginalisation, and resilience. This vantage point drives our commitment to equity, inclusion, and authentic representation in all that we do.
We support coalitions, networks, and movements to build the skills, systems, and strategies they need to lead effectively in complex environments. From local initiatives to continental platforms, we invest in leadership that is resilient, inclusive, and transformative.
We provide technical advice and facilitation to civilian actors navigating political transitions and peace processes. Our work focuses on creating space for genuine civilian voices to influence negotiations, shape policy, and design pathways toward inclusive governance.
Through dialogue, cultural initiatives, and grassroots engagement, we strengthen trust and solidarity within communities. We work with women, youth, artists, intellectuals, and religious leaders to counter division and foster collective action for peace.
We champion women and young people as central actors in political and social change. By creating inclusive platforms, building networks, and amplifying underrepresented voices, we ensure that future leadership is diverse and representative.
We help communities and coalitions look beyond immediate crises to plan for sustainable recovery. Our work addresses institutional rebuilding, economic resilience, and inclusive frameworks that ensure no one is left behind.
We generate timely, context-specific analysis and research to inform strategies for peacebuilding, governance, and social transformation. By drawing on local insights and comparative global lessons, we provide evidence-based recommendations that strengthen decision-making and policy engagement.
We act as a bridge between local actors and international partners. By translating grassroots perspectives into policy discussions and global forums, we ensure that external support aligns with local priorities and strengthens, rather than substitutes, local leadership.
Partner with us to build democratic, peaceful, and inclusive societies across Africa.
